Things To Do

The beaches are Miami's most famous attractions, but there's so much more to do in Miami! See the mysteries of Coral Castle and the magic of the Ancient Spanish Monastery, moved brick by brick from Spain 50 years ago. For hands-on family fun, the Miami Science Museum and Miami Children's Museum can't be beat! Animal lovers can choose from the world-famous Miami Seaquarium, Jungle Island, Monkey Jungle and Miami Metrozoo. Looking for natural beauty? Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Miami Beach Botanical Garden, Deering Estate at Cutler, Vizcaya Palace and Gardens, and the Ichimura Miami-Japanese Garden are some of the most beautiful and exotic gardens in the country; Everglades Safari Park and Billie Swamp Safari offer a walk on the wilder side.

Miami's sparkling miles of sand are some of the best in the world. Miami Beach, Hollywood Beach, Haulover Park in North Miami Beach and Crandon Park on Key Biscayne offer wide sandy beaches perfect for sunbathing and picnicking. While the beaches on South Beach attract lots of younger party-going types, Hollywood and Crandon Park beaches are ideal for families. Haulover Park Beach has a clothing optional area for the truly daring (and slow to sunburn!). Most of our beautiful beaches are open sunrise to sunset.

The freshest seafood, tropical fruits and exotic Caribbean spices - Miami dining is all of these and so much more! From classic Italian to modern Indian, Greek to Chinese to Thai to classic American steakhouses, Miami offers a culinary trip around the world in the space of a few miles. South Beach has the greatest density of amazing restaurants, but neighborhoods all over South Florida have an array of great choices in every cuisine imaginable.

Family Fun/Kids
Although Miami is a world-famous party spot for the beautiful people, it also has lots of fun geared toward kids and families. The Bill Graham Farm Village has a petting zoo, the restored antique carousel at Crandon Park is popular on weekends, and Wannadoo City at Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise offers kids the chance to let their imaginations loose - while parents relax in a separate adult lounge. Other great family-friendly choices are Metrozoo, Miami Seaquarium, Jungle Island and Monkey Jungle. Options that are also perfect for the occasional rainy day in Miami include the Miami Science Museum, Miami Children's Museum and the Historical Museum.

Gulfstream Park & Casino, Mardi Gras Casino, the Miccosukee Resort & Gaming and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino offer a variety of gaming options: live hore racing, bingo, slots, Vegas style slots, blackjack and poker.
Besides gaming, all of these have great live entertainment and lots of dining choices. Think Las Vegas with beaches.

Whatever you're in the mood for, Miami's got it! From the hottest in hip-hop clubs (Karu & Y is a favorite with visiting celebs!) to live Irish music at John Martin's in Coral Gables, music and fun abound in Miami's night time scene. South Beach, Coconut Grove, Mary Brickell Village, the Young Circle area of Hollywood and Miracle Mile offer plenty of variety in easy walking distance. Tobacco Road, proud owner of the first liquor license issued in Florida, sits right on the Miami River, just south of Downtown; 25 miles north at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, the world-famous Opium nightclub just opened a new state of the art club. In between lay everything imaginable for the perfect night on the town!

Everyone knows Miami for the beaches and water, but we have lots of great parks and golf courses too! Miami-Dade County is home to two national parks, plus our state and local park systems are extensive, offering horseback riding, batting cages, bike rentals, picnic areas, restaurants, tennis courts and much more. Biscayne National Park, Everglades National Park, Bill Baggs-Cape Florida State Park, Greynolds Park, Tropical Park and many others provide fun in the sun away from the beach.

Whether for couture fashion, vintage looks or a great bargain, Miami has plenty of great shopping! Aventura Mall, the 5th largest in the nation, sits at the gateway to Miami-Dade County, while the largest outlet mall in the US -- Sawgrass Mills -- sprawls a few miles away in Sunrise. Many other fabulous malls (Dolphin Mall, Dadeland Mall, Shops at Sunset Place) offer great rainy day getaways, while South Beach, Coconut Grove and Miracle Mile in Coral Gables abound with specialty boutiques. For a variety of shopping options, along with great dining and entertainment choices and great views, check out Miami's destination shopping centers: the Village of Merrick Park, Bayside Marketplace, the Falls and the Lincoln Road area of South Beach.

Miami is home to world-class sports! Besides the Miami Dolphins, the only team in the NFL to ever have a perfect season, Miami has bragging rights in college football and baseball, pro basketball, hockey and baseball. The American Airlines Arena is the stomping ground of Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat; Dolphin Stadium is also home to the National Champion University of Miami Hurricanes and two time World Series winning Florida Marlins. Just a few miles up the road in Sunrise, the Florida Panthers rule the BankAtlantic Center. Horse racing fans can get their fill of high stakes action at beautiful Gulfstream Park from February through April, including the Florida Derby. No matter the season, South Florida has lots of sports action to watch!
